Show the correct answer
Correct answer
C. Move the vehicle to the hard shoulder.
Explanation
In the photo, you can see the scene of an accident on a city street: a crashed passenger car with a damaged front, a white van, a motorcycle standing next to them and a group of people around. When you are involved in an accident in which people have been killed, you must not move the vehicle onto the shoulder - answer C. Calling the fire brigade (A) and giving first aid (B) are things you not only may do, but should do.
The Road Traffic Act requires a driver involved in an accident to stop the vehicle without causing danger, secure the accident scene and give their details, and to remove the vehicle from the accident scene only if nobody has been killed or injured. If someone has been killed or injured in the accident, the driver must also give the necessary help to the victims, call the emergency medical services and the Police, not do anything that could make it harder to establish how the accident happened, stay at the scene until the Police arrive and not drink alcohol until tested. Moving the car destroys evidence: the position of the vehicles, skid marks and debris allow experts to reconstruct who was at fault. That is why, when there are victims, you leave everything as it is, switch on the hazard warning lights, place the warning triangle, call 112 and take care of the injured - even if the wreck is blocking traffic.
