D-40 Residential zone
What it means
Marks entry to a residential zone. Inside: pedestrians may use the full width of the road and have priority over vehicles, the speed limit is 20 km/h, parking is allowed only in designated places, and children under 7 may be on the road unsupervised. Leaving the zone you are joining traffic, so you give way to everyone.
In the exam
Leaving a residential zone (D-41) means joining traffic: you give way even to vehicles from a minor road and to pedestrians on the pavement.
