Which of the control lights visible in the illustration informs you that the rear windscreen heater is enabled?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
B. B.
Explanation
The illustration shows three warning lights: A - an orange windscreen with fluid spraying onto it, B - an orange rectangle with three wavy arrows pointing upwards, C - a red thermometer immersed in waves. Light B tells you that the rear window heater is on - answer B. Symbol A refers to the washers, and C warns that the coolant temperature is too high.
The rectangle is the outline of the rear window, and the wavy arrows are rising heat. The rear window heater consists of thin wires in the glass which heat up when it is switched on and remove condensation or frost within a few minutes, restoring your view to the rear; it usually switches itself off after a dozen or so minutes. The Road Traffic Act requires a vehicle to give the driver a sufficient field of view, and the Regulation on the technical conditions of vehicles requires mirrors that give a view to the rear, and in a passenger car also an interior mirror - and that mirror only shows as much as you can see through the rear window. A misted-up rear window means driving blind when reversing and changing lanes, so in winter you switch on the heater right after starting the engine, and not only when you cannot see anything in the mirror.
