In this situation, having changed the traffic lane, are you required to switch off the direction-indicator immediately?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
YES
Explanation
In the video you are moving from the ending right lane into the left lane, following the lane-change arrows P-9 and the sign by the road, and pulling in behind the cars moving there. Immediately after changing lanes you are obliged to switch off the indicator. The answer is: yes.
The Road Traffic Act requires a driver to signal an intention to change direction or lane in good time and clearly with the indicator, and to stop signalling immediately after completing the manoeuvre. An indicator left on after the manoeuvre misleads others: a driver behind you may think that you are about to change lanes again or turn, and a driver coming out of an intersecting road may think that you are letting them out. When you change lanes, the indicator does not switch itself off as it does after a turn, so as soon as your car is settled in the new lane, you move the lever back, glancing at the indicator light on the dashboard.
