Question no. 7038 3 pts basic PT

In this situation, are you obliged to yield the right of way to pedestrians?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video a tram is approaching a pedestrian crossing that goes across the tram tracks and the roadway. There are already pedestrians on the crossing - a woman with a pushchair, a cyclist wheeling a bicycle and other people - and next to it, on the roadway, a car is moving. In this situation you are obliged to give way to the pedestrians - the answer is YES.

The driver of a tram must give way to a pedestrian who is already on the crossing. The only exception is a pedestrian who is only just stepping onto the crossing - the tram has right of way over them. Here the pedestrians are already on the crossing, also on the tracks, so you stop the tram and wait until they have left the tram tracks.
