Brake fluid hardly gets used up, so a drop in its level usually means worn brake linings or a leak. A warning light that is on is a signal to stop and check the reservoir - with a large loss of fluid, the pedal may suddenly sink all the way to the floor. A check before every engine start (answer A) or every time you connect a trailer (answer C) is not an obligation, although it is worth glancing at the reservoir during periodic servicing. The level should be between the MIN and MAX marks, and you top up only with fluid of the type stated on the cap.
