Can you, while driving a four-wheeled vehicle (microcar, quad), transport a child aged up to 6?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
B. Yes, but only with the speed of up to 40 km/h.
Explanation
In the photo there is a quadricycle with a wide seat, a windscreen and boxes at the front and back. On a quadricycle you may carry a child aged up to 6, but only at a speed of up to 40 km/h - answer B.
The Road Traffic Act states that the speed limit for a motorcycle, quadricycle and moped carrying a child aged up to 7 is 40 km/h - and a six-year-old child is in this group. So carrying the child is not prohibited (answer A), but it is not done at any speed (answer C). The 40 km/h limit also applies outside built-up areas, and lower limits, for example 20 km/h in a residential area, still apply to you. Remember also that you may carry only as many people as the vehicle's design allows, so the child must have their own seat. Both the driver of the quadricycle and the person carried, including a child, must wear a safety helmet, unless the quadricycle is factory-fitted with a closed body and seat belts.
