What should you pay special attention to while reversing the car?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

A. Any objects which are around and which are approaching the car.

Explanation

In the photo you can see a car park paved with blocks, where cars are parked at an angle, and in front of them there is a pavement with a crossing - a place from which you typically drive out in reverse. When reversing, you must pay attention to objects around the vehicle and objects approaching it - answer A. Holding your hand on the gear lever (B) or concentrating on the position of the steering wheel (C) has nothing to do with the safety of the manoeuvre.

The Road Traffic Act requires a driver who is reversing to give way to other vehicles and road users and to exercise particular caution, and in particular to check that the manoeuvre will not cause danger and to make sure that there is no obstacle behind the vehicle; if it is difficult to make sure of this personally, you must get help from another person. When reversing, you look through the rear window and in the mirrors, you watch both sides of the car, pedestrians on the pavement and vehicles coming along the street, and when neighbouring cars block your view, you drive out very slowly and stop as soon as anyone approaches.

Legal basis: Art. 23 para. 1 point 3 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
