Can you stop a passenger car in a spot designated as a stop area (a zigzag line)?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
NO
Explanation
In the photo you are driving along a street in a housing estate, and on the right there is a bus stop with sign D-15; a white zigzag line - P-17 "bus stop line" - is painted along the edge of the roadway. In the area marked by this line you cannot stop the car to ask for directions. The answer is: no.
The Regulation on road signs and signals states that marking P-17 marks the place of a bus, trolleybus and tram stop on the roadway and means that the ban on stopping for other vehicles at the stop applies along the whole length of the line. Independently of this, the Road Traffic Act prohibits stopping a vehicle less than 15 m from the post or board of a stop, and at a stop with a lay-by (bus bay) - along its whole length. Stopping, even for a moment, blocks the bus from reaching the kerb and forces passengers to step out onto the roadway. You ask for directions beyond the zigzag, at a place where stopping is allowed.
