On a road, past this sign, can you make a U-turn?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the photo you are driving along a street in town, and on the right there are signs D-3 "one-way road" and B-36 "no stopping". On the roadway beyond this information sign you cannot make a U-turn. The answer is: no.

The Road Traffic Act prohibits U-turns on a one-way road, and the Regulation on road signs and signals specifies that sign D-3 marks the beginning or continuation of a road or roadway on which traffic moves in one direction. After a U-turn you would be driving against the traffic, straight towards vehicles whose drivers do not expect anyone from the opposite direction, and on a roadway where cars are often parked on both sides. If you have taken the wrong road, you drive to the end of the one-way street and turn around using the neighbouring streets; driving against the traffic, even for a few metres, is a petty offence.

Legal basis: Art. 22 para. 6 point 1 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym); § 44 para. 1 of the Regulation on road signs and signals
