Are you obliged to maintain a safe distance each time when driving past vehicles?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
YES
Explanation
In the photo, we are driving a tram on tracks in the roadway, and in the right-hand lane there is a queue of cars waiting at the traffic lights; a yellow minibus is standing right next to the tracks. When going around a vehicle or obstacle, you are always obliged to keep a safe distance - the answer is YES.
Going around (omijanie) means driving past a vehicle, road user or obstacle that is not moving. The Road Traffic Act requires you, when going around, to keep a safe distance from the vehicle, road user or obstacle and, if necessary, to reduce speed. The obligation also applies to a tram. A car standing next to the tracks may have its door open or a mirror within the tram's clearance gauge, or someone may be getting out of it. If the distance is too small, you reduce speed or stop the tram until you can pass safely.
