Are you obliged to also yield the right of way beyond the visible sign to vehicles that may approach the road from the right side?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the photo, a tram is approaching a place where the tracks cross a street; next to the track there is sign A-7 "give way", and further on, cars and a tram are moving along the roadway. Beyond the visible sign, you are also obliged to give way to vehicles that might approach along the roadway from the right - the answer is YES.

Sign A-7 means that you must give way to all vehicles travelling on the priority road - from the left and from the right. The sign also applies to a tram, because the right of way of a rail vehicle applies only where right of way is not set by signs. So before entering the roadway, you look both ways and let through both cars and trams. Giving way means that you do not force anyone to change direction or lane or to change speed significantly.

Legal basis: § 5 para. 5 of the Regulation on road signs and signals; Art. 5 para. 1, Art. 25 para. 2 and Art. 2 point 23 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
