Does the vehicle driver have difficulties in simultaneous performance of two or more activities at the same time after alcohol consumption?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
YES
Explanation
A driver who has drunk alcohol may have difficulty doing two or more things at once - and driving a car is exactly that. The answer is: yes.
Alcohol slows down the brain and narrows attention: the driver focuses on one thing, for example keeping the car in the lane, and stops noticing a pedestrian on the crossing, a sign or a vehicle in the mirror. Already at 0.2-0.5 per mille, reaction time gets longer, and the coordination of movements and the judgement of distance get worse. That is why the Road Traffic Act prohibits driving a vehicle after drinking alcohol, that is from 0.2 per mille in the blood, and above 0.5 per mille driving is a crime. If you have been drinking, you do not get in - you order a taxi or stay the night.
Legal basis: Art. 45 para. 1 point 1 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym); Art. 178a of the Criminal Code
