When passing next to a tram at a tram stop not situated at the sidewalk, are you obliged to exercise particular caution?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the photo we are travelling by tram along a street, and on the left side, at a stop located in the middle of the street and not by the pavement, another tram is standing. When driving past a tram standing at such a stop, you must exercise particular caution - the answer is YES.

The Road Traffic Act requires the driver of a vehicle to exercise particular caution when driving past a marked tram stop that is not next to a pedestrian path. Passengers getting off the tram at such a stop have to cross the roadway or the tracks, often in a hurry and without looking around. The duty applies to every driver, including the driver of the second tram. You reduce your speed, watch the doors of the standing tram and the space between the trams, and you are ready to stop.

Legal basis: Art. 26 para. 6 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
