Are you obliged in this situation to exercise extreme caution?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
YES
Explanation
In the video we are riding a moped in the middle lane of a multi-lane street in town; a silver car is overtaking us in the left lane, and we are starting to move to the left, towards its lane. In this situation you are obliged to exercise particular caution - the answer is YES.
The Road Traffic Act states that a driver may change lanes only while exercising particular caution and must give way to vehicles travelling in the lane they intend to enter. Before you move to the left, you check the mirror and the blind spot over your shoulder - the car that has just overtaken you may have others behind it. You switch on your indicator in good time, change lanes smoothly and do not ride on the line between the lanes. Behind the car in front of you, you keep a distance that will let you avoid a collision if it brakes.
Legal basis: Art. 2 point 22, Art. 19 para. 2 point 3 and Art. 22 para. 1, 4 and 5 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
