Question no. 11090 2 pts basic AM

You change lanes by signalling this accordingly. Are you obliged to stop signalling a lane change manoeuvre as soon as it is done?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video we are driving on one carriageway of a dual carriageway with two lanes in our direction, separated from the other carriageway by a barrier, and we change lanes, signalling this with the indicator. After completing the manoeuvre, you are obliged to stop signalling the lane change immediately - the answer is YES.

The Road Traffic Act requires the driver to signal in good time and clearly the intention to change direction or lanes, and to stop signalling immediately after completing the manoeuvre. An indicator left on misleads others: drivers behind you or in the adjacent lane may think that you are changing lanes again or turning, and adjust their driving to this. On a moped the indicator often does not switch off by itself after the manoeuvre, so after changing lanes you check straight away that you have switched it off - many mopeds have a warning light on the dashboard for this purpose.

Legal basis: Art. 22 para. 5 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
