Is it permitted to reverse a light quadricycle on the bridge?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
NO
Explanation
In the video we are driving over a bridge with tram tracks and high red barriers on both sides; a tram goes past next to us. Reversing a light quadricycle on a bridge is not allowed - the answer is NO.
The Road Traffic Act expressly prohibits reversing a vehicle in a tunnel, on a bridge, on a flyover (viaduct), on a motorway or on an expressway. On a bridge there is no shoulder and no space to escape, and drivers do not expect a vehicle moving backwards, so reversing could lead to another vehicle running into you. If you miss the exit just after the bridge, you drive on and make a U-turn only at a place where it is allowed and safe, for example at the nearest junction. Remember also that U-turns are not allowed on a bridge, on a flyover or in a tunnel, and the ban on reversing applies whether or not there is any sign there.
Legal basis: Art. 23 para. 2 and Art. 22 para. 6 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
