Are you obliged, if necessary, to go to the right when driving past?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
YES
Explanation
In the video we are driving along a two-way street in town with cars parked on the left side; passenger cars and then a scooter come towards us from the opposite direction, and we pass them. When passing an oncoming vehicle, you are obliged, if necessary, to move over to the right - the answer is YES.
Passing an oncoming vehicle (wymijanie) means driving past a vehicle or road user moving in the opposite direction. The Road Traffic Act requires you, when passing an oncoming vehicle, to keep a safe distance from the vehicle or road user you are passing and, if necessary, to move over to the right and reduce speed or stop. On a narrower street, or when the oncoming vehicle is driving close to the centre line of the roadway, you move closer to the right edge to make room for it. On a moped or a light quadricycle you ride close to the right edge anyway, but watch out for drain covers and the kerb at the right edge.
Legal basis: Art. 2 point 26 and Art. 23 para. 1 point 1 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
