The Road Traffic Act directly prohibits carrying a child under 3 years of age in a passenger car or a lorry that is not equipped with seat belts and a child safety seat or another restraint device. An older child in a vehicle without seat belts may travel on the rear seat, but the youngest children - never. Answer B is therefore wrong. An adult holding the child in their arms (answer C) does not protect the child: in a collision at 50 km/h, the child's body briefly weighs several dozen times more than usual and no person can hold it, and the adult may also crush the child. In a bus the rules are different - there, a child under 3 years of age does not have to wear a seat belt.
