In this situation, do the signs notify you of the end of the lane on the left of the roadway?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
YES
Explanation
In the video you are driving in the middle lane of a three-lane motorway between noise barriers; on both sides of the roadway there are blue signs D-14 "end of lane", on which, of the three lanes, the far left one ends, and the arrow bends to the right, into the middle lane. The signs inform you about the end of a lane on the left side of the roadway. The answer is: yes.
The Regulation on road signs and signals states that sign D-14 "end of lane" marks the end of the lane at the very edge of the roadway on the side shown on the sign; a plate T-1a placed under it would show the distance to the end of the lane. The left line that breaks off and the arrow turning right say clearly: the left lane ends, and its users must move into the neighbouring middle lane. A driver in the left lane switches on the right indicator in good time, checks the mirror and the blind spot and changes lanes, giving way to vehicles in the middle lane - the Road Traffic Act requires this of everyone who changes lanes. In a traffic jam, the zipper merge (jazda na suwak) applies: the driver in the neighbouring lane lets one vehicle from the ending lane in ahead of them, directly before the point where the lane ends, not several hundred metres earlier.
Legal basis: § 49 para. 5 and § 50 of the Regulation on road signs and signals; Art. 22 para. 4 and 4a of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
