Question no. 10487 1 pts basic B

In this situation, can you change lanes to the left?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the video you are driving on a motorway through a section with temporary traffic management; there are red and white barriers on the left, and the lanes are separated by yellow lines - on the left side of your lane the line is solid. You are not allowed to change to the left lane. The answer is: no.

The Regulation on road signs and signals states that the single solid line P-2 separates lanes going in the same direction and means that you must not drive across it or onto it, and yellow road markings used during temporary traffic management take priority over white ones. So the solid yellow line on the left side of your lane closes the way to the left lane - the lane was marked like this because the roadway runs right next to the barriers, and any lane change would risk scraping against the barriers or colliding with a vehicle in the neighbouring lane. You stay in your lane, keep to the speed allowed by the signs and keep a greater distance from the vehicle in front. Changing lanes will be possible only where the yellow line becomes broken.

Legal basis: § 86 para. 3 and § 85 para. 3 of the Regulation on road signs and signals; Art. 22 para. 4 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
