Question no. 10214 2 pts basic B

Is it permitted to stop here?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the video, you are approaching a junction at a road interchange: from the left a road comes in from under a flyover, the islands at the entry are marked with red-and-white guide boards, on the left there is an area excluded from traffic, and your road turns right along barriers, with a solid edge line. Stopping in this place is not allowed. The answer is: no.

The Road Traffic Act prohibits stopping a vehicle at a junction and less than 10 m from a junction, and on the roadway next to a solid line marking the edge of the roadway. Stopping means any standstill of a vehicle that does not result from traffic conditions or traffic rules, even for a dozen or so seconds - for example to let a passenger out; the ban does not, however, apply to a standstill forced by traffic, such as waiting for a chance to enter the junction. The Regulation on road signs and signals adds that entering and stopping on the area excluded from traffic P-21 are prohibited. The entry to a junction is a place where vehicles from the side road join traffic, and every stationary vehicle limits their visibility and blocks their path. You let your passenger out only beyond the junction, in a place where the car is visible from a sufficient distance and does not get in anyone's way, as close as possible to the right-hand edge of the roadway.

Legal basis: Art. 49 para. 1 point 1 and 5, Art. 2 point 29 and Art. 46 para. 1 and 2 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym); § 90 para. 5 of the Regulation on road signs and signals
